I love looking at how other people decorate their own personal spaces like desks or nite stands. All of the personal details and touches are so lovely.

J.Crew for Spring

I like J.Crew as much as the next girl but it has got to be said that they have really stepped up their styling game. I think we have Michelle Obama to thank for that. Here is my favorite look from the May 2010 catalog.

Kleine Dingetjes

This next post is inspired by my friend Harmine who has a thing for "kleine dingetjes" (pronounced kleina ding-ichas) which is Dutch for "little thingy". Harmine is from Amsterdam and always finds the best kleine dingetjes- shocking, Amsterdam. Sigh...but I thought I'd give it go. So here is my roundup of kleine dingetjes from around the web.

Morocco + La Tangerina

The most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in- La Tangerina, in Tangier Morocco. I live in Africa but Morocco is a different kind of Africa. If you ever get the chance- go and stay here! These pictures don't even do it justice. The rooms are absolutely amazing.

For more information on La Tangerina view their website here and for more amazing images of this stunning hotel, view their flickr site here. Images via La Tangeria's flickr site.

Happy Tape

I would love to get a package in the mail that was this happy.

I can't believe I don't own any washi tape yet. If you're looking for some too, the Etsy store Wonderland Room has all sorts. Check them out here.

Almost as wonderful as the actual tape itself, washi tape clip art- for free! Download here. Thank you Pugly Pixel!

Quirk Gallery & Shop

Quirk is a gallery and shop space in Richmond, Virginia that I adore. I miss being in the same city as them but luckily for me they have an online store! So here are some of my favorites. Note the amazing "not water bottles". They are actually glass carafes in the shape of a plastic water bottle- beautiful. I would also be happy to have the Diana Mini camera to play around with and would love to use the eco-chic wooden cutlery for one of my next events. See for yourself- check them out here!

I saw Nuria Mora's work over at Mint and was instantly smitten. There's a big street art culture here in Cape Town and I would love to see her art up on the walls of my city one day.

Meet Color Collective.

Color Collective is the amazing new blog of graphic designer, Lauren Willhite. When I look at her blog I feel like I'm looking at a hand picked, curated show of loveliness. I also love that you really get a feel for aesthetic. Lauren is also the new intern over at Frolic- lucky girl. All images via Color Collective, originally found via {frolic!}

Lauren's Flickr images are equally wonderful. Definitely worth taking a trip over to her page to see the rest!

Nothing is Everything

Last night was opening night of "Nothing is Everything" an exhibition hosted by Word of Art Gallery here in Cape Town. I happily attended as my husband, Andrew, exhibited his work with artist, Paul Senyol and others.

Paul and Andrew collaborated on a series of five paintings, Andrew writing poetry for three of the five works, and Paul turning the poems into amazing pieces of art. The show was a huge success and at one point I could barely even move. Congratulations to all of the artists on their beautiful work. And if you live in the Cape Town area, you can check out the exhibit until May 15th. For more information on artist Paul Senyol you can check out his blog here. And for more information on Andrew Breitenberg, go here.

DIY for Spring!

I was looking through some old pictures and found this head band I made back in October. I love it so much I thought I'd share.

Here are the materials you will need: fresh flowers, floral wire and floral tape. Step one: fashion a couple of pieces of floral wire into a circle big enough to fit the circumference of your head. Step two: weave flowers through wire until you get desired effect. Step 3: Tape up any part that may need to be secured further. That's it! Simple and so pretty. Lovely for a Spring bride.

Thanks to my beautiful sister, Anya, for modeling for me!

The New Geometry

Has anyone else noticed the trend towards geometric patterns this Spring? I have to say- I love it.

I love paint and I'll tell you why- because you can transform ANYTHING with it. I bought this file cabinet at a junk shop for $40 a few weeks back and I am so happy with the way it turned out. And if you're looking for a good spray paint- Montana is the best out there. They have a huge range of colors and it's cheap- $5 per can.

My little home here in Cape Town has a back courtyard that needs some help. So I've been lazily dreaming up a new life for it. I really like the idea of having a day bed out there for seating. It seems so friendly. I'll let you know what I come up with, but for now enjoy these images!
